In this Shopian area of Kashmir, there are a lot of issues that often get neglected, or not given enough importance by the authorities - a proper motorable road and working bridges are such concerns.
The above video is from Shopian, about the death of a 26 year old youth, drowned in the river while carrying Rice and Corn on his back, is heartbreaking. He left his old mother, wife and four small children to fend for themselves. This death would not have happened if he did not have to cross the river on foot; heavy load on the back and swift currents of water in that hilly region is a fatal combination.
The villagers have been requesting a bridge over the river for the last 15 years. All their requests fell into deaf ears.
